The walk takes in Arlesey village sights and river meadows. There are good public houses on the High Street for refreshments.

Start at the village hall. A map of all the circular walks can be seen at the entrance to the village hall.
Leaving the car park Turn Left. At the multiple junction (about a quarter of a mile, on the right). This junction was the site of the village pump. A replica of it can be seen outside the village hall at your starting and finishing point.
Keep to the High Street as it bends to the left and carry on to the cross roads (shops on the corner).
Turn Right into Hospital Road.
At the end of Hospital Road, Turn Left and head towards the railway footbridge. While on the bridge it is worth taking in the views. Note the meadows and footpath straight across the road through the kissing gate.

At the river, do not cross but Turn Right and walk along the river passing through a kissing gate and cross the ditch.
Follow this path to the end of Mill Lane. This is the site of one of the three mills in Arlesey, mentioned in the Doomsday Book of 1086. There are no visible signs left at this site apart from the widening and deepening of the river where the mill pool was.
Keep to the riverside and pass through the kissing gate to follow the riverside path (there are also two disabled fishing points along this section).
Passing through another kissing gate, the hard surface footpath finishes and you enter the Mill Pits meadows (cattle may be grazing in this area).
Follow the river to the bridge and a weir where there are also two wheelchair accessible picnic tables. The site of another of the mills, the remains of the millrace can be seen in the water Take the opportunity to enjoy the wildlife and the river with an abundance offish. You may even see a Kingfisher flash past.
To continue on the circular route, do not cross the river, but head diagonally to your right and cross the bridge over the ditch, heading for the gate in the railway boundary.
Pass through onto the unmanned level crossing - take great care crossing the line (trains in excess of 100mph pass here).
Follow the path to enter the High Street by passing between the houses.
Turn Right to return to your starting point.
